  • Artwork Description
"Flamenco Sketh" is presented on rare Linen fabric, woven by "chevon" technique from raw, undyed flax fibers to keep its pristine beauty. Chevron originated in the South of France in the middle of the 19th century and so far this type of loom has no longer existed.

On a rustic Linen background, artist Kongo drew inspiration from his favorite jazz song "Flamenco Sketches" to paint the work with just spray paint. This is also a classic composition by Miles Davis - the great master of the jazz world. "Flamenco Sketches" is described as a sketch using only 5 modes for the whole piece and combining a variety of instruments such as trumpet, piano, saxophone, drums.
Unlike previous works, in "Flamenco Sketh" Cyril Kongo plays on the canvas with free-flowing caligraphy and an improvised array of colors like the spirit of jazz. The piece is as free, peaceful, and hopeful as the music itself, and also a tribute to jazz legend Miles Davis.
